Makueni County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service. In order to strengthen the capacity of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per Article 176 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Sections 45, 50 and 51 of the County Governments Act 2012.

1.YOUTH DEVELOPMENT OFFICER: (1 POST)

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary: Job Group K
Salary Scale: Ksh. 35,400 x 1,600 – 37,000 x 1,660 – 38,660 x 1,750 – 40,410 x1,850 – 42,260 x 1,930 – 44,190 x 2,040 – 46,230 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, facilitate and coordinate the implementation of departmental activities at the sub-county level
  • Assist in the development of departmental policies, plans and activities
  • Mobilize youth groups and individual youths to participate actively in socio-economic and political development and in issues affecting them
  • Work with relevant stakeholders and youths (both groups and individuals) to identify their skills, assets and concerns
  • Coordination and monitoring of youth groups and their activities
  • Work in partnership with the local community to facilitate local participation and development
  • Create and maintain local networks with the community, relevant agencies, community organizations and other non-governmental organizations
  • Participate in programme monitoring, evaluation and learning
  • Work closely with the sports development officer in organizing and facilitating county sporting activities
  • Act as the departmental liaison person at the sub-county level
  • Prepare and submit progress reports and work plans on a monthly basis
  • Promote and adhere to principles and values of governance and public service – article 10 and 232 of the Kenya Constitution 2010
  • Administrative duties
  • Any other duty that may be assigned.

Requirements for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • At least a Degree in social sciences/development studies/ project management, community development or any other related area
  • Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

2. YOUTH POLYTECHNIC INSTRUCTORS (33 POSTS)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Theoretical and practical instruction of trainees in the specified area of specialization
  • Preparing and maintaining professional documents including schemes of work
  • Preparing lesson plans, lesson notes, and trainee records, teaching and learning materials, carrying out trainee assessments
  • Ensuring proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Organizing and conducting co-curricular activities
  • Maintaining trainee discipline and offering guidance and counseling to trainees

Requirements for Appointment

  • At least Craft/Certificate in specified Technical field
  • Possess KCSE qualification
  • Diploma holders are highly encouraged to apply
  • Teaching experience of at least 2 years in a vocational training institution or its equivalent
  • Diploma in Technical Education or T.o.T Certificate will be an added advantage
  • Computer literacy will also be an added advantage
