Makueni County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service. In order to strengthen the capacity of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per Article 176 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Sections 45, 50 and 51 of the County Governments Act 2012.

CULTURE OFFICER: (1 POST)
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary: Job Group K
Salary Scale: Ksh. 35,400 x 1,600 – 37,000 x 1,660 – 38,660 x 1,750 – 40,410 x 1,850 – 42,260 x 1,930 – 44,190 x 2,040 – 46,230 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate and promote culture, arts and music programs and activities in the County
  • Research and documentation of cultural traditions, cultural related activities, arts and music in the County
  • Plan and manage culture, arts and music festivals and events
  • Organization and support to cultural groups, artists and musician
  • Evaluate the needs of Makueni County communities in relation to cultural, art and music developments
  • Initiate new cultural, art and music development projects
  • Monitor and evaluate the culture, arts and music projects
  • Any other duties assigned.

Requirements for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • At least a Degree in social sciences/development studies/ project management, community development or any related area
  • Have at least 1 years’ experience working on cultural issues
  • Possession of Project management skills will be an added advantage
  • Good communication, networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and agile
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
