Makueni County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service. In order to strengthen the capacity of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per Article 176 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Sections 45, 50 and 51 of the County Governments Act 2012.

Salary: Job Group Q
Salary Scale: Ksh. 97,320 x 4,880 – 102,200 x 5,110 – 107,310 x 5,350 – 112,660 x 5,630 – 118,290 x 5,920 – 124,210 x 6,210 – 130,420 p.m.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Reviewing patients and instructing in writing all the recommendations
  • Undertaking “ First-on-Call” duties including clerking, investigating, and managing patients
  • Conducting weekly clinic days
  • Managing health facilities at various tiers in communities
  • Responding intern calls
  • Training, supervising and mentoring Medical Officers (Intern) and other students
  • Performing emergency surgeries
  • Undertaking Medico-legal duties including the filing of P.3 forms, court attendance and performing post-mortems
  • Undertaking medical diagnosis, care, and treatment; ensuring data and information is collected, transmitted and utilized to benefit the customer and service provider
  • Conducting disease surveillance, prevention, and control
  • Carrying out health education and promotions and preparing a medical report
  • Performing any other duties as may be delegated from time to time by the supervisor

Requirements for appointment

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Master’s Degree in Orthopedic Surgery from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Registration Certificate by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Valid Practicing License from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
  • Poses Training in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS
  • Must have at least ten (10) years working experience in a busy health institution
