TWO (2) BOARD DIRECTORS OF THE MAKUENI SAND CONSERVATION AND UTILIZATION AUTHORITY.
1. Board Directors – 2 posts
Terms of service: 3 year term renewable once
Salary: As set out by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)
Duties and responsibilities
The Board should:
- Exercise their role collectively and not individually;
- Determine the organization’s mission, vision, purpose and core values;
- Set and oversee the overall strategy and approve significant policies of the organization;
- Ensure that the strategy is aligned with the purpose of the organization and the legitimate interests and expectations of its shareholders and other stakeholders;
- Ensure that the strategy of the organization is aligned to the long-term goals of the organization on sustainability so as not to compromise the ability of future generations to meet their own needs;
- Approve the organizational structure;
- Approve the annual budget of the organization;
- Monitor the organization’s performance and ensure sustainability;
- Enhance the corporate image of the organization;
- Ensure availability of adequate resources for the achievement of the organization’s objectives;
- Hire the CEO, on such terms and conditions of service as may be approved by the relevant government organ(s) and approve the appointment of senior management staff;
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Be a holder of at least a first degree from a university recognized in Kenya in the fields of Environmental Law or Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management or a relevant Social Science
- Possession of a master’s degree will be an added advantage
- Be a professional who demonstrates absence of breach of the relevant professional code of conduct
- Demonstrate clear understanding of Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Authority goals, policies and development objectives including values and principles of governance as well as demonstrate appreciation of diversity within the County
- Have thorough knowledge of the structural, legislative and regulatory framework of the Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Authority
- Have relevant knowledge and experience of not less than five (5) years in any of the following fields: -
i) Advocacy, lobbying and communications
ii) Business and Enterprise Development
iii) Financial management
iv) Administration
- Is not a state officer
- Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
