1. CHIEF FIRE OFFICER - (1 POST)

Terms of Service: Three (3) years contract
Salary: Job Group M
Salary Scale: KShs: 49,000 x 2,170 – 51,170 x 2,550 – 53,720 x 2,650 – 56,370 x 2,750 -59,120 x 2,920 – 62,040 x 3,080 – 65,120 p.m.


Duties and Responsibilities

The chief fire officer reports to the Director, Special Programs and Emergency Services and performs the following duties:

(i)                 Ensure overall efficiency and administrative responsibilities in the service;

(ii)              Act as officer in command of fire service and rescue service;

(iii)            Overall officer in charge of planning for trainings and research;

(iv)             Overall officer in charge of fire prevention and inspections;

(v)               Fire Brigade head quarter’s commander;

(vi)             Administration of fire-fighting drills to the firemen;

(vii)          Any other duties assigned by the Director.

Requirements for Appointment

(i)              Must be a Kenyan citizen

(ii)           BSc. Degree in Disaster Management

(iii)         Must have attended a fire prevention course in fire service training locally or its equivalent

(iv)          Certificate in fire service leadership course from a recognized institution nationally or internationally

(v)            First Aid certificate or Emergency Medical Training from a recognized institution nationally or internationally

(vi)          Served satisfactorily in fire service and  or in disaster management institution(s) for a period not less six (6) years

(vii)       Valid motor vehicle driving license (Class BCE)

(viii)     Be a computer literate

(ix)          Be medically and physically fit

(x)            Have no criminal record

2. FIREMAN DRIVER (2 POSTS)
Terms of Service
: Three (3) years contract
Salary: Job Group G
Salary Scale: KShs
22,270 x 1,040 – 23,310 x 1,070 – 24,380 x 1,090 – 25,470 x 1,110 – 26,580 x 1,120 – 27,700 x 1,150 – 28,850 x 1,170 – 30,020 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

(i)              Firemen/crew driver to and from disaster/emergency scenes

(ii)           Water pump operation, hydraulic platform and Turntable ladder operation

(iii)         Can work as a fire fighter

(iv)          Part of his/her stand by time during each day shift will be spent in drills and practices, keeping the appliances/ fire engine in order and other duties in the fire station

(v)            Make sure that the Fire Engine/Ambulance is clean and in good working condition

Requirements for Appointment

(i)          Must be a Kenyan citizen

(ii)           Heavy commercial motor vehicle driving Licence (BCE)

(iii)         Certificate in Grade Test of Motor Vehicle will be an added advantage.

(iv)          Have attained a minimum of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

(v)            Candidates that have attended basic First Aid or basic firefighting will have an added advantage

(vi)          Have at least 3 years’ experience as a driver

(vii)       Physically and medically fit

(viii)     Good vision and hearing

(ix)          Ability to work during odd hours

(x)            Must have no criminal conviction or record

3. RECRUIT FIREMAN (6 POSTS)  
Terms of Service
: Three (3) years contract
Salary: Job Group G
Salary Scale: KShs
22,270 x 1,040 – 23,310 x 1,070 – 24,380 x 1,090 – 25,470 x 1,110 – 26,580 x 1,120 – 27,700 x 1,150 – 28,850 x 1,170 – 30,020 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

 (i)                 Firefighting and rescuing people and or property from either fires or dangerous situations in case of an emergency, under close supervision of a senior officer

 (ii)             Part of his/her stand by time during each day shift will be spent in drills and practices, keeping the appliances/ fire engine in order and other duties in the fire station

 (iii)            Performing duties of fire man, I, under close supervision of a senior officer

 Requirements for Appointment

(i)                 Must be a Kenyan citizen

(ii)              Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean Grade of D+ and above

(iii)            At least height of 1.60m (5ft 3 in) for men and 1.52 m (5ft) for women

(iv)             Weight 54.55 kg (120 lb) for men and 50.0 kg (110 lb) for women

(v)               Ex- regular member of armed force or Ex-Fire Fighter may be appointed if below 40 years of age

(vi)             Candidates that have attended firefighting course will have an added advantage

(vii)          Driving license (BCE) is an added advantage

(viii)        Physically and medically fit

 (ix)             Good vision and hearing

 (x)               Ability to work during odd hours

 (xi)             Have no criminal conviction or record  

 (xii)          Must have shown merit and ability in work performance and results
