     1. SENIOR PRINCIPAL SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER (DIRECTOR WATER SERVICES) - (1POST)

Terms of service: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary: Job group R
Salary Scale:
Kshs. 121,430 x 6,070 – 127,500 x 6,370 – 133,870 x 6,570 – 140,440 x 6,770 – 147,210 x 6,960 – 154,170 x 7,160 -161,330 x 7,810 – 169,140 pm

An officer at this level will be responsible to the Chief Officer for planning, directing, controlling and coordinating technical and administrative activities of water and sewerage systems in the county.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  •     Participating in preparation of Professional and Quality Standards for construction of water supply and sewerage infrastructure
  •     Overseeing the construction of water and sewerage works directly or by contract;
  •      Formulating, monitoring and evaluating requirements of physical and financial progress of development projects and programs;
  •    Verifying technical tender documents on water supply and sewerage infrastructure
  •     Formulating water pricing policies and strategies for rural, urban and waste water systems
  •     Liaising with development partners and other stakeholder in the water sector for effective formulation; planning; coordination and implementation of projects and programs.
  •    In addition, the officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic and work plans; budgeting for the development and deployment, training and development of staff in the department
  •   Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Served in the grade of Principal Superintending Engineer (Water and Sewerage) or comparable and relevant position or equivalent for at least three 3 years.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/ Water Engineering/ or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s Degree in Civil/ Water Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Be registered/registrable by Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)/ Kenya Technologists Registration Board (KETRB).
  • A member of a Professional body in good standing.
  • Have current annual practicing license from Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
  • Having attended a strategic leadership development course in lasting not less than six (6) weeks or equivalent management training from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
  • Have certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
  •  Have demonstrated general administrative ability required for direction, control and implementation of and projects
  • Demonstrated the skills, capacity and ability for resource mobilization

 

2)    ASST. ENGINEER II (ELECTRICAL) - 1 POST

Terms of service: Permanent & Pensionable
Scale Job Group K
Salary scale –
Kshs. 38,270 x 1,470 – 39,740 x 1,520 – 41,260 x 1,710 – 42,970 x 1,920 – 44,890 x 2,000 – 46,890 x 2,110 – 49,000 x 2,170 – 51,170 p.m.
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre.  An officer at this level will work under the close supervision and guidance of a senior officer

Duties and responsibilities

1.      Design of electrical/electronic engineering services.

2.      Repair and maintenance of electrical/electronic installations in waterworks and other government facilities.

 

            Requirements for Appointment

                        i)               Be a Kenyan citizen;

(ii)         Be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution

(iii)           Be registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer.

 

3)   ASST. ENGINEER II (MECHANICAL) – 1 POST

Terms of service: Permanent & Pensionable
Scale Job Group K
Salary scale –
Kshs. 38,270 x 1,470 – 39,740 x 1,520 – 41,260 x 1,710 – 42,970 x 1,920 – 44,890 x 2,000 – 46,890 x 2,110 – 49,000 x 2,170 – 51,170 p.m.

Duties and responsibilities

a)      design of mechanical services in government buildings and construction works;

b)      repair and maintenance of mechanical installations in, waterworks, offices, workshops conference complexes and other government facilities.

 (b)      Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

(i)                 be in possession of a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution; and

(ii)              be registered by Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer.

 

4)   MECHANIC – (MOTOR VEHICLE AND PLANT) – 1 POST

Terms of service: Contract – 3 years

Job group H

Basic Salary Scale:  Kshs. 25,470 x 1,110 – 26,580 x 1,120 – 27,700 x 1,150 – 28, 850 x1,170 – 30,020 x 1,250 – 31,270 x 1,300 – 32,570 x 1,380 – 33,950pm

This is the entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will be attached to Department Workshops and will be attached to vehicle or plant repair section.  The officer will be supervised by a senior officer.

Duties and responsibilities include:

(i)                 Be a Kenyan citizen;

(ii)              Repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and plant;

(iii)            Inspect and test vehicles and equipment before and after repairs;

(iv)             Conduct proficiency test for drivers.

(v)               Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: 

(i)        A Diploma in Automotive or other approved equivalent qualification from recognized institution; and

(ii)       A valid Driving License.

5. DRIVERS  II CATEGORIES:-

1)       LOW BED (1 POST)

Terms of service: Contract – 3 years
Job Group E
Salary Scale – Kshs. 15,670 x 580 – 16,250x640 – 16,890 x 680 – 17,570pm

Duties and responsibilities

The driver will be responsible for the following:-

(i)           Driving a motor vehicle as authorize

(ii)              Carry out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc

(iii)            Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle system

(iv)            Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road

(v)         Safety of the passengers and/or goods there in

(vi)            Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle

(vii)          Maintaining and updating tickets

(viii)        Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate   supervisor

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  •    Be a Kenyan citizen;
  •  Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized instituti
  • Served in the grade of Driver III for a minimum period of three (3) years
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicles(s) an officer is required to drive;
  • Passed suitability Test for Driver Grade III
  • Passed occupational trade test III for drive
  • Defensive driving certificate from Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Attended a first aid certificate lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution
  • Attended a refresher course for drivers lasting not less than one(1) week within every three (3 years) at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
  • A valid certificate of Good conduct from Kenya Police and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

 

6. PLANT OPERATORS CATEGORIES:

 
FARM TRACTOR   (1 POST)

Terms of service: Contract – 3 years
Job Group E
Salary Scale – Kshs. 15,670 x 580 – 16,250x640 – 16,890 x 680 – 17,570 pm

Duties and Responsibilities

                                i)            Operating machines of difficult ‘rating’ C

                              ii)            Assisting machine attendant in identifying possible breakdowns

                            iii)            Liaising with mechanics for servicing; making daily and weekly oil checks

                            iv)            Maintaining the cleanliness of the plants

                               v)            Maintaining and updating log sheets

                            vi)            Assisting in training of junior plant operators (attaches, interns) in carrying out simple adjustments not requiring special tools

                          vii)            Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

 

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  •   Be a Kenyan citizen;
  •   Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (plain) or a equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  •  Have passed the suitability test for plant operators (Test III)
  •  Possess a valid Driving license free from current endorsements for class(es) of machine(s) that one may be required to operate
  •  Be able to operate at least two (2) plants of difficult rating ‘C’
  • Attended a First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St John Ambulance or the Kenya Institute of Highways and Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution and
  •  A valid certificate of good conduct from Kenya Police
