Induction program for the 42 newly recruited staff across Makueni County Public Service

The Board has successfully conducted a one-day induction program for the 42 newly recruited staff across Makueni County Public Service, marking a significant step in enhancing the county’s public service delivery. The induction, held on 23/01/2025 at the Boards Boardroom was meant to familiarize the new employees with the Human Resource Policies and procedures, and the overall expectation of themselves as public Servants.
In his opening remarks, the Chairperson of the Public Service Board, Dr. Nicodemus Muteti, emphasized the importance of effective public service in improving the livelihoods of Makueni’s residents. “As we welcome you to the Makueni Public Service family, remember that your roles are pivotal in implementing the County government development agenda. You are here to serve the people, and we expect nothing less than dedication and integrity,” he stated.
The induction program featured various sessions led by seasoned professionals, covering topics such as:
• Public Service Code of Conduct and Ethics: Emphasized on public servants’ daily operations while fostering a culture of ethical behavior and accountability within the public sector
• National Cohesion, Values, and Principles of Public Service – Emphasized the role of Public Servants in promoting a cohesive and ethical public service that works effectively for the benefit of all citizens
• Service Delivery and Human Resource Requirements: Emphasized on human Capital output that is effectively aligned with the organization’s service delivery goals, ultimately leading to addressing the needs of the Makueni Citizenry effectively.
• Employee Rights and Welfare: An outline of the benefits and support systems available to the staff.
• Sustaining a culture of Excellence and Winning in the workplace – Underscored that public officers should foster organizations that create a culture that not only values excellence but also drives success and fulfillment, ultimately leading to better outcomes for the organization and its stakeholders
• Government Protocol and Communication
Participants were also given an opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions, fostering a sense of Cohesion and Collaboration among the recruits.
In closing, CS. Redempta Kavindu, the Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Board encouraged the new staff to embrace innovation and teamwork as they embark on their careers. “Together, we can make Makueni a model county by leveraging our collective strengths and ensuring that no one is left behind,” she remarked.
